5Most functional hot surface protector around  Sep 19, 2007 By jimnypivo "Jim Hisson"
I got an Original Ove glove (without silicone grips) a few years ago for my wife, who seemed to be forever burning her delicate hands on hot things out of the oven.

Boy, were we pleased!

The Ove Glove insulates well against heat, and it is washable. Because it is made of fabric, it might be preferable to some over the silicone 'hot mitts' that seem to have eclipsed it in popularity recently. It certainly does NOT constrain hand movement as the silicone mitt does.

If you have small hands, the Ove-Glove should work for you. it's clingy, and the wrist part should cover your diminutive wrist better than my hamlike paws.

I'd recommend getting two gloves---is it worth spending $30 instead of getting a nasty burn? You decide.

The Original design could only be improved with the silicine gripping ridges that are featured on the current product.

The Ove -Glove's only flaws are:
1. Having the a work glove design, your wrist is not as protected as if it were of a gauntlet type of design. You stil risk burns from hot oven racks.

2. The Ove Glove is not waterproof. If you spill hot liquid on it while wearing, get it off fast to avoid a scald. The hot liquid seeps through like any other fabric glove.

3. Although it is washable, the Ove Glove doesn't clean up very well. Ours has pizza sauce and some purple stuff on it that never seems to be able to come off. Cheese seems to have been a problem, but multiple washings appeared to have fixed that.

Otherwise, you'll be happy with your purchase. The Ove-Glove performs as advertised.

4Good heat protection, like the true "glove"design  Jul 31, 2006 By International Diva
I started using these in culinary school. Our chefs used them. A key is that they have separated fingers which allows you greater control in preparation than traditional mitts. However, due to their woven design, they are not as heat resistant as some heavier duty, Kevlar style gloves. Also, like any glove, if they get wet at all, the heat resistance goes way down.

Having said all that, if baking or prepping at a standard baking or roasting range (350 to 400), I always use these gloves first. If I am retrieving something that's been broiling or cooking at very high heat (500 in a a home oven or in a very hot commercial kitchen), I am more careful when picking up that hot of an item.

For home use, I think they're very good.

5A MUST HAVE FOR ANY KITCHEN  Jan 18, 2007 By F. A. Robinson
I have wanted these for quite some time. It is a wonderful product. I have large hands and a regular "pot holder" is not big enough and I always seem to scorch my thumb taking things out of the oven. This glove is GREAT! I got 2 of them so I can grab the oven rack and pull it out or push it in, and I can grab a roasting pan and turn it with one hand, while basting with the other and both hands stay cool. When baking BREAD i can just turn over the pan with one hand and grab the loaf with the other hand with no problems. It takes a LONG time of holding something to even BEGIN to feel any heat. I HIGHLY advise that you get this. GET 3...2 for YOU and 1 extra incase someone is helping you in the kitchen. These are the BEST!

5Great for kiln shelf handling !  Jul 11, 2009 By Sekaye
Finally good insulated gloves to unload my hot kiln with!!
I am a potter and these glove have proven to be the best so far to unload the kiln when it is hot. Specially to remove and handle the hot shelves.
The fingers and "rubbery strips give really good grip.
I absolutely recommend them.

5Heat is not your friend!  Dec 26, 2007 By Sean P. Logue "If you can't win, change the rules."
I bought one of these and liked it so much I bought three more of them. They are very useful around the kitchen. They work like potholders, but because they cover your hand there is no risk of the holder slipping and your hand touching a hot surface. They don't take up much space in a drawer, which other oven mitts tend to do.

There are really only two negatives I've found after using mine for a couple of years now. One is that they really don't get clean, so they'll be stained after a while and won't look new. The other is that if you get them wet, they will conduct heat. I found this second "feature" out the hard way, and you can bet I'm now careful to keep them dry.

Great item. It only seems expensive until you try them, then you'll wonder why they aren't charging more for them.
