Worked Great Aug 07, 2008
By Syed Arif Inam Drain Sweep worked really great. I was using liquid drain openers in my bath tub, but they don't help much if hair/debris is stuck to the walls of the drain pipe. The Drain Sweep collected the debris from the walls of the drain pipe and pulled everything out. At one point Drain Sweep was stuck and I had to move it forward / backward and sideways and pull it out with force. Good product.

Ignore the silly hype, this works just fine though Oct 29, 2009
By Michael A. Duvernois "So good it's patented." Whatever, this is one of those silly "as seen on tv" items that actually works. It's a simple but effective drain sweeper. Works well and is reasonably inexpensive. What's not to like?

Too Wide to Get Into Drain Feb 04, 2010
By R. Schultz This tool proved to be too fat to get past the permanent metal cross-hatching in my kitchen sink's drain. Although the Sweep is much more slender than the average plumber's snake, it was not slender enough to make it past this impediment.
I then tried it out on my bathroom sink. I have an older style of drain stopper here. This metal stopper plug can be removed. However its raising and lowering motion is controlled by a horizontal bar that is nested a few inches below the drain opening. I was afraid the Sweep once again wouldn't be able to make it past such an impediment. However it did. But this time, the existence of this horizontal bar circumscribed the movement of the Sweep snake to such an extent that I wasn't able to maneuver it into or past the P-trap of the pipe under my sink. Therefore once again, the tool proved useless.
The instructions on the Sweep's package say that if one has this problem gaining access - one should disassemble the pipe at the P-trap and work from there. But that's exactly why I bought this tool - to AVOID having to disassemble and then re-solder pipe!
Also, the handle of the Sweep is made of rather flimsy plastic and arrived partially broken. The breakage did not materially affect the operation of the unit, so I'll probably keep it and find some use for this tool someday. But I cannot recommend it. Before you buy it, check to make absolutely sure that your drain will allow access to a snake with a girth actually somewhat over 3/8 of an inch.

Seems a bit flawed Nov 05, 2009
By Elton Drewry I got this to clear my shower when it got blocked by the usual gunk. This device proved totally ineffective in clearing the shower. The problem seems to be when you pull the trigger a set of 5 plastic strip expand outwards - but this is too narrow for my shower drain and it doesn't reach the sides. So everything just slips down around the side of it when I pull it out. I'm sure it must be grabbing some stuff, but it simply wasn't staying attached.
Maybe for narrower pipes it'll do a better job, but for me it has been worthless.

Old pipes beware Jan 20, 2011
By JT worked good. but one of my pipes was pretty old and a little rusted. and this thing busted a hole through it. i cant completely blame the product for my old pipes. but just a warning if you have old pipes i wouldn't use this. Also it was too fat a fit in a few of my drains.
