Quality not as expected Apr 14, 2006

I was very satisfied with this product, even thought the potato peel was thick, it still saved me some time during cooking. After two months of use it stopped performing good. It will not rotate the potato and gets stuck. I contacted the seller but the 30 days warranty was over and was instructed to call "Starfrit" (the makers). They also were not able to help because of the 30 day warranty being over and threw the ball to the seller. At the end I could not get it replaced or repaired. Since I had no hopes of getting it replaced or repaired I decided to open it and see if I could find what was preventing it from rotating. Everything seemed to be in good condition until I disassembled the long side were the arm that holds the blade goes, it looks like a long screw and is made of a very low quality plastic and it had some broken spots, this is were the arm that holds the blade gets stuck. I never let it fall. I was not lucky with it, maybe I got a deffective model or one that had been stored for a long time making the plastic brittle. I'm giving it two stars because I still think that if it was made with better quality material this would be a nice gadget to have. By the way I bought two, one for me and one for my mom who has arthritis but hers also broke after a couple of uses. Too bad it did not broke during that 30 days warranty. I think their warranty period is poor, very rarely an appliance breaks during the first month of use, unless you use it everyday.

operation and condition Sep 16, 2004
By Robert B. Davis The rotato express is similar to the old Dazey Stripper. It is of lesser quality , but works very well. You will find the peel is thicker than the old Dazey ,but,Operation is good
It was shipped from Taylor Gifts inc. in a timely manner and arrived in good condition.
Caution ; There is also another advertised without specifing the operation uses batteries/or adaptor. This one is cheaper but is hand operated with a crank.

It really works! Sep 29, 2005

I just received this a couple of weeks and have used it 3 times now. It works like a charm and worth every cent! No difficult instructions, it's very easy to use. Take a look at the picture, that's all you need to do. Stick the potato on the prongs, put the blade on the top, push the button and it starts peeling and it automatically stops once it's down to the bottom. It doesn't take off too much of the potato either. Maybe slightly more than a potato peeler, about the same as a parer knife though. It goes very fast too, only a few seconds to peel 1 potato. I'd guess you can do 2-3 potatoes with this vs. 1 potato manually peeling. This will come in VERY handy for the upcoming holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
It also works for a variety of fruits and veggies: apples, lemons, limes, cucumbers, zucchini, etc.
Don't hesitate in buying this. With the cost of only $30.00 it's well worth the money even if you were to use it only a few times.

Happy Mother's Day! May 04, 2005
By TJ I saw a brief demo of this product on GMA & immediately thought of my mother. She has severe arthritis (numerous surgeries, including joint replacement, etc.) & has said in the past that peeling potatoes hurts the most. So, I ordered this without seeing the product in person. SHE LOVES IT!!! She would probably buy one for everyone she knows if she wasn't on a fixed income. :)

The answer to sore hands if you need peeled Nov 26, 2007
By K. DeSotel I am buying two this year for Christmas gifts. I use mine for potatos and apples. I'm so thankful to have it, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am unable to peel these foods without it.
