4Wristech Blood Pressure Monitor JB5538  Jul 11, 2010 By Jon E. Miles
Posted for friend: Being a Dialysis patient I must monitor my blood pressure. I have a top rated Blood Pressure Monitor that I use at home but was looking for something to take on the road. Easy use but accurate. When I first used this unit it gave me a very low reading and then a very high reading. I had others try it and it did the same thing. I then sat down and followed instructions to the letter and received a very close reading in comparison to my high end calibrated cuff. I had others sit and use the calibrated cuff and then this wrist monitor. They received almost exact numbers on both 122/80 on cuff and 120/78 on wrist a few min. later. I then used the same testing method of calibrated cuff and a few min. later the wristech following instructions to the letter this time and it worked great. Others who followed the instructions to the letter found the same results. I don't know if the unit must be used 5-10 times as a break in period or what caused the crazy readings in the beginning for everyone but it works fine now. This is the only reason I took the time to write review, give the wristech a chance by testing 20 times and then follow instructions to the letter and compare to calibrated cuff. I think for the money you should be very happy if yours works like mine does now.

I am in no way connected to Amazon or wristech. I only wanted to make sure others understood the break in experience I had and now unit works fine.

Good Luck!

1Horrible and unreliable  Jul 24, 2010 By Lilly St. James
I wanted a little BP monitor and the price on this was good. I guess you get what you pay for. You have to keep your arm in exactly the position shown to get an "accurate" reading. Unfortunately based on the diagram, this position is somewhat up for interpretation. For example, I took my BP and it was 189/101, I took it again right away and it was 134/90 and then again and it was 113/64 and again and it was 150/80. My normal BP at the doctors is 110/80. Each time I thought I was in position but I was just a little off. I found by adjusting my arm up or down just an inch or two I could create a HUGE fluctuation in my BP reading. The problem with this of course is that there is no way to determine what is actually an accurate reading.
I returned it.

5Nice little meter that you can take with you  Jan 28, 2011 By Chong Q. Wu
This is such a nice meter for monitoring blood pressure throughout the day, at home, on the road and in my office. Follow the clear instructions to get the readings precisely and quickly every time. I highly recommend this meter if you have not tried it.

1NOT WORTH THE POSTAGE TO RETURN IT  Jul 26, 2011 By RJ
SELLER TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF ME. I RECEIVED MONITOR PROMPTLY. PACKAGED PERFECTLY. FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS. MONITOR WOULD NOT GIVE ME ANY READING. CONTACTED SELLER. SELLER ASKED ME TO SEND BACK AND HE WOULD REPLACE. SENT BACK AND SELLER IMMEDIATELY REPLACED. AGAIN, MONITOR SHIPPED IN PERFECT CONDITION. MONITOR GAVE READINGS OF UPPER NUMBER IN THE 200'S AND LOWER NUMBER IN THE 100'S. CHECKED BLOOD PRESSURE AT DOCTOR TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T A CANDIDATE FOR A STROKE AND BLOOD PRESSURE WAS EXCELLENT. MONITOR DESCRIBED BY DOCTOR AS A PIECE OF JUNK, JUST THROW AWAY. DONE!!!

1Can I give this a 0 rating?  Jul 16, 2011 By John DiVincenzo
I am an LPN and I needed an easy to carry and quick to use BP monitor for work. This product came highly recommended so a co-worker and I each bought one. I had it exactly 2 weeks with everything being great, then one time in the middle of my shift I started to get bizzare readings and went back to the manual method. I changed the batteries several times and did all kinds of positioning tricks and it finally started working again. The next time I used it at work, it again did the funky reading thing and then it stopped inflating altogether. This is a frustrating situation for a health professional, but it got even more frustrating when I tried to contact the company responsible to have it fixed/replaced by the warranty. The distributer said it was the manufacturers problem, and after much internet searching and some phone calls, I found out distributor and manufacturer are one in the same. After having her wrist monitor work for several more weeks than mine, my co-worker is now experiencing the same problem. Needless to say, I will be replacing this monitor with another one that actually works.
