5VERY SHARP  Mar 18, 2005 By C. Hagensick
I bought this ceramic peeler a year and a half ago. It is very sharp and will peel the skin off a finger just as quickly as off a potato.

I like the peeler very much but find it hard to clean. The white ceramic part has stains that I haven't been able to get out. (I will try the suggestion of the first reviewer, maybe that will work.)

All in all, it's an excellent product in a reasonable price range. I like mine well enough that I'm buying some more to give as gifts.

4Good but not great.  Dec 11, 2004 By J. Manly "healthychoices"
I have used this for the past year, primarily for peeling sweet potatoes and yams. It does a good job on those fibrous veggies, but I have other peelers I prefer to use with fruits and thinner skinned veggies. This one cuts too deep to use with carrots and cucumbers.

It's a little awkward to clean the blade. An old toothbrush has been handy, along with a spray of kitchen cleaner. (I like Simple Green for this.)

Not for use by children. At $20, this ceramic bladed peeler is a bit awkward for small hands, and subject to breaking if dropped.

3Just OK  Jan 03, 2007 By Shel "chelie1"
I like the concept - but the blade wants to tilt funny sometimes, and I have to adjust it back before it will work. Also, It doesn't have an "eye" remover for potatoes. I think I would have done better getting the slightly larger version with the blade at a angle.....

5In use for five years and still going strong!  Sep 07, 2010 By J. Manly "healthychoices"
This may LOOK flimsy, but it's a workhorse for heavy duty peeling jobs. Kyocera offers several versions. Mine is this small one. I use it mainly for peeling yams and sweet potatoes, and for shredding carrots to make longish strips to top a salad, add to a sandwich or a bowl of soup. I still reach for the stainless peelers when I want a thin peel. This one can't be beat for those tough-skinned yams and sweet potatoes. Good with mango, too.

Note: I started out with another Kyocera ceramic blade product that admittedly looked flimsy--the thin slicer. That's still going strong, too--six years--though it now has a few nicks in the blade, likely from grit embedded in carrots. Great for making very thin carrot coins, paper-thin slivers of onion and garlic, bell peppers, etc., etc. People who aren't veggie lovers don't seem to mind the extra veggies when they are added to pizza, in sandwiches, salads, meatloaf or stir-fry--you get the idea.

SAFETY NOTE: Ceramic blades are extremely sharp. NEVER put them loose in a drawer. They are also relatively fragile. Wash by hand--NOT in the dishwasher. (An old toothbrush gets in the crevices on the peeler.) It's great to have kids involved in the kitchen, but I don't recommend giving them access to tools such as these. The same would be true for any helper who isn't focused on the task at hand. It's very easy to cut yourself.

5I'm lovin' my ceramic peeler!  Oct 08, 2007 By C. J. Sutton
I actually ordered one for my Dad and decided to order one for myself. We're a family that likes to peel our tomatoes and the Kyocera Ceramic Peeler was just perfect,
