Outstanding performance Oct 28, 2008
By William Shepherd I purchased this peeler as a replacement in the event that my original peeler of the same kind should ever break. I've had the original peeler for over 8 years and it's still just as sharp as ever. I HIGHLY recommend this ceramic peeler to anyone looking to replace their steel bladed peeler. It's well worth the extra money in superior performance that never seems to end. Just a tip: The ceramic blade is very hard but can be chipped if impacted with other utensils or hard surfaces. I recommend washing and storing it separately for years of trouble free performance.

Works as it should! Jun 22, 2009

This is a good product in general. The ceramic blade is sharp and does a good job peeling potatoes and carrots and cucumbers. We've been using this one for 6 months now and there are problems. We keep it in the "utensil" drawer with all the other accumulated kitchen stuff and it's held up just fine.
The only possible negative is that if you've got big hands and are peeling small vegetables then it gets tricky. I even managed to nick my finger tip on a small potato ... patience is a virtue here so take your time.
I'd buy this again...

Nice and wide Oct 17, 2007
By Firecracker This is an excellent peeler for those extra wide tasks, for instance making zucchini noodles, similar to lasagna width. It's also great at peeling mangos.
It is very sharp, I already cut myself on it, so caution is recommended. Also because it is ceramic be careful about dropping it as ceramic breaks very easily.

I have only been using ceramic peelers since the 80's, but when i tried this MEGA peeler i was amazed at how much better the wider blad makes peeling.

I love my Mega peeler. I used to hate peeling potatoes, root vegetables, and squashes with conventional steel peelers. The blades were always dull and peeling took much longer than it should have. It's so much easier with the Kyocera. The blade never seems to dull. Also, the pivot mount helps the blade follow the contour for a nice continuous peel.
Pros: Peeling is so much faster and easier. Super sharp and built to stay that way with normal use. Handle fits well in contour of hand. Can tackle very tough skins with ease. Could last you years if you care for it properly.
Negatives: Ceramic blades can be brittle so you'll want to hand wash this tool. Probably not that useful in the event of the Mayan apocalypse or a zombie attack.
