2Vacuum not powerful enough to suck up most bugs  Oct 17, 2005 By E. A. Lovitt "starmoth"
There may be other bug vacuums more powerful than the "Bug Wand." I can't recommend this particular product because it doesn't perform as advertised. We tried it out on Asian beetles (the ones that look like lady bugs but bite people), spiders, a house fly, and a few gnats (no-see-ums). It worked for the gnats, but we had to knock the rest of the bugs into the tube because they clung to the wall, ceiling, or web and refused to be sucked in.

I don't think I'd go after a bee or wasp with the Bug Wand, as I wouldn't want them to lose their temper while I was trying to knock them into a 1.5 inch diameter, two-foot long tube.

The directions on the Bug Wand box end with, "So the next time you discover creepy crawlers in your home, just wave a (Bug) Wand and make them disappear!"

Yeah, right.

5great bug-catcher  Sep 14, 2009 By Judith Milgram
This doesn't seem like it would do much with it's wimpy vacuum, but it's very effective on the crawling sort of bug because they don't see the tube. Put it facing them head-on if possible, turn it on and you'll likely catch the spider or silverfish, etc. Even some less jumpy crickets. Haven't tried it with flies, doesn't seem likely to work. What I especially like is that captured insects aren't hurt and can be released outside unlike with the much more expensive similar bug vacs.

1Load of rubbish - no suction at all.  Jul 07, 2009 By David C. Edward
Good luck trying to catch a bug with this piece of rubbish. Waste of money

1Cheap piece of junk.  Nov 03, 2010 By dani
I bought this to suck up stink bugs that have invaded the east. I had one similar to this that sort of worked (weak vaccum-you have to sort of scoup them up and tap them down to bottom of catcher and put the cap on til you get them to the toilet to flush. Forget that "capture and release" crap-I want them to die, die, die. They are horrible)ANYWAY-it arrived and didn't work. The cheap "on" button was stuck down inside the plastic tube. I returned it. Don't waste your money. I really need something with a more powerful vaccum. You can't suck these things us in a vaccumm because they stink it up and make your house smell. Foul bugs

5Great Product at an Excellent Price  Nov 06, 2009 By Lynn Cartwright
I've had one of these a few years and now cannot imagine living without it. With white interior paint it's no fun to clean up after expired insects, and this is the solution.

These vacuums take a single 9v battery which slides into the handle after removing the plastic plug on the end. I highly recommend using pre charged rechargeable batteries as I also discovered the others do not provide enough power to run the device properly. Once I switched this little bugger (pun intended) really got with the program!

Now I no longer need to destroy beneficial insects in the home, I merely vac um up and drop them over our balcony and about their business. We have yellow jackets in our area and nothing beats this for removing them from the house and sending them on their way. Give it a try and I'm sure you will agree, this is the best way to go about it. Only very tiny insects are exempt from removal with this, but if a person wanted they could place fine mesh or no see um netting over the handle entry where they land to prevent them from going through as the tubing is easily removable.
