AWESOME PRODUCT!!! May 28, 2010
By Sara After a friend recommended Veet, I switched from shaving to depilatories because I was sick of the razor burn, hair growing back thicker, general hassle, etc that comes with shaving. I definitely prefer depilatories over shaving (they cause much less irritation, keep hair away longer and are just generally more convenient than a razor). However, I did still sometimes get some irritation with them. Also, that disgusting, murky chemical smell lingers in the bathroom (or whatever room you use it in), and on your skin for awhile. I don't care what the brand claims the 'scent' is, they all smell mostly the same, which isn't great. I also don't love the fact that I know there's still chemical residue on my skin, despite the fact I can't see any more cream and don't wanna risk rubbing it into my skin more by attempting to get it all off.
This was my first time using this product after seeing some good reviews, and I figured it's so inexpensive anyway that it was worth a shot. I was definitely right! Despite my initial skepticism that it actually worked as promised, I'm so glad I tried it! It completely eliminated the smell from my skin, while leaving it very smooth/irritation free, and is really easy to use, as it's just like a body wash (you lather, rinse and repeat until the lather no longer turns pink upon contact with your skin). Plus, it gives me the added assurance that i'm not still walking around with the chemicals from the depilatory absorbing into my skin. My only warning is that because of how thickly you generally have to apply the creams so they remove all unwanted hair, you have to use a lot of the afterwash as well. I.e. you have to lather then rinse several times before getting rid of every bit of the depilatory. But, this product still definitely deserves 5 stars as it works so well, and is inexpensive enough that it's not that big of a deal to use a lot (I'd just suggest buying more than 1 tube at once). Great buy for anyone who uses depilatories!
