not as good as it looks Jul 28, 2008
By pet pal I bought this collar to hold onto my dog when people came to the door. The handle works quite well but the overall feel of the collar is bulky. It has a very large buckle and the handle makes it very thick. It may look better on a large dog but it was too much for my medium dog. My other complaint was that the colored edging began to fray within the week and then unravelled. I had to return it and I am disappointed as it looked like a good idea.

Almost what I was looking for May 02, 2009

When I first saw this collar I thought that it would be very handy to have a collar with a built-in leash. Ultimately, I bought it because of the built-in leash feature. However, that is not why I ended up liking the collar.
- The collar looks good. It comes in an array of vibrant colours and the details (from the reflective stitching to the silver bones) look sharp. This collar has gotten a lot of compliments from other dog owners.
- At a little over 1" wide, the collar is wider than a lot of the collars I've found that fit my dog's narrow neck. (Usually, collars that fit his neck are 3/4" or less in width). I like wider collars because any pressure on the dog's neck from pulling is spread out over a wider surface. When my dog does forget his manners and pulls he does not make a choking sound.
- This collar has some weight to it and is durable. Dog owners are likely familiar with "zoomies"--where a dog zooms around an area at top speeds. My dog has done spontaneous "zoomies" on-leash and snapped other collars in half. While I'm glad he didn't hurt his neck I am horrified by the fact that this happened by a busy intersection. This collar has stood up to spontaneous "zoomies" sessions and other dogs biting on the collar with no apparent damage.
- Under the handle of the built-in leash is a transparent plastic pocket. It can hold your contact information, should your dog become lost.
Unfortunately...
- This collar's built-in leash is NOT very useful. The leash is really just a handle (albeit a comfy one) with short, elastic straps tucked inside the collar. You have to apply a LOT of force to pull the leash out in the first place. Eventually the elasticity will wear out, leaving you with a collar that has a funny handle hanging limply on the side. The built-in leash was a great idea, but poorly executed.
- The small, plastic pocket that can hold your contact info is poorly placed. This important contact info is hidden under a handle. It is unlikely that someone will think to look for contact info under the handle, should your dog get lost and then found. Also, I have twice now caught my fingers on the edge as I grabbed the handle. In addition to brief discomfort to my fingers, I have bent the plastic holding my contact info and made it less secure.
- Owners of smaller dogs may not appreciate the weight and bulk of this collar.
I do like this collar, but I won't be relying on it to help me get my dog back in the event that he's lost. Nor will I rely on the built-in leash for quick control.

Great collar! Mar 08, 2007
By Christine M. Cook I bought this collar to be able to easily control my dog, who gets excited when guests arrive. Now, I can simply hold the handle until my guests get settled and then release it when he is calm. It is a nice thick strong collar too.

waste of money Dec 29, 2008
By C Im glad I didn't pay full price. The collar is bulky and heavy. The built-in leash lost elasticity after a few pulls. More suitable for large dogs.

Its a good collar, the buckle does stick out a little, I worry it will get caught on something, so I keep the collar pretty lose and well the silly girl can pull her head out if she backs up and we're holding on.
