Trims hair, pays for itself in first use Aug 16, 2006
By Cheese and crackers
"Yum!"
I'm surprised too at the negative reviews.
I just bought mine at the local bricks-and-mortar Sharper Image store (albeit for a couple of dollars more rather than the price of $9 advertised here at Amazon) because I needed a quick haircut, and by golly it worked; the clumps of hair on my bathroom floor are testament to the fact that it cuts hair.
For those who gave negative reviews: When you turn the ON switch and you hear the sound of the motor, make sure you push the slider button ALL THE WAY until it LOCKS into place, otherwise, the switch could slide back into the OFF position while you are trimming. That happened to me; I turned it on without locking, and while it was being run through my hair, it seemed to die on me. I thought the batteries had died within just a few minutes of use, before I figured out what the problem was.
Here are the positive features:
1) Because it's battery operated, you don't have to worry about electrical cords getting in the way or falling into the sink and electrocuting you.
2) You can extend the handle so that you can trim the left side of your head (if you're right handed).
3) The motor is surprisingly powerful, given that you are using 2 AAA batteries.
4) It is inexpensive and pays for itself in the first use. I typically spend about $12 on a haircut anyways, and have been other places that charged more.
5) It can cut hair at four different lengths: The main unit has an adjustable guide which provides two lengths (extremely short and very short), and then there are two attachments for longer lengths.
6) It's well designed to handle like a comb, especially when you consider the shape of standard electric clippers (which are a little hard to use on yourself on your own head, beause that's not what it's designed for).
The negative features:
1) (minor) I wonder why they didn't go with 2 AA (larger) batteries. Same voltage, but wouldn't it last longer between battery replacements? Maybe they wanted to keep the unit lightweight.
2) (minor) If I'm not mistaken, it seems to be designed for right handed people. I'm right handed, so I don't have a problem. I'd be curious to see how left-handers work it out.
Conclusion: This device is a good investment.

Not for Everyone! May 06, 2006

I've read a lot of negative reviews for this product and I was really suprised with them because I just received my 'Just A Trim' and I've had a great experience.
I have VERY short hair, so, I may be the exception. Being in the military, I need a buzzcut about once every two weeks. The large buzz shears that I normally use are cumbersome and have way too many attachements.
I like the 'Just A Trim' because it's easy to handle, portable, and has just the attachements that I need.
The only downfalls that I see in the product is that it needs to be lubricated occasionally (with a silicone lubricant, or, WD40) and it also needs to be cleaned often (with the little brush that's supplied).
I doubt this tool would work well with longer hair, but with shorter hair, it works great. And keep in mind...it's not supposed to give you a haircut--just a trim.
Have a Great One!

Just a Trim is the most efficient tool I have encounter for quick touchups when you don't have time for the barber or hairdresser. The blade lasts for several years and your trim looks professional. Thanks for a great product for short fast growing hair....

Works if you have some knowledge about hair cutting Mar 10, 2006

I bought this product on a whim after seeing the commercials. I was doubtful about it after reading the first reviews on it; however my feelings changed once i used it. If you use it exactly how it says to it is simple. Just comb it through your hair, and it trims the sides nicely. You will still need to touch up around your ears, and dont expect to use it for the top of your head, stick to regular trimmers. But i use it every 2 weeks when the sides of my hair get too long...A+

Love Nov 23, 2007
By Jennifer C. Bedsworth I've used this product for over 2 years for my bangs.I love it. It allows me cut them the length I want, when I want to. No more "too" short bangs. I only ordered another as I couldn't find replacement blades for the one I had. This product is great.
