Ssscat review Feb 12, 2008
By W. Kelly Johnston We have owned four of these for about a year now, and I can say they WORK!! The cats really try to avoid them. One of them has figured out that if he can knock it over, it is not nearly as effective. We now have to find ways to keep it proped up.
The only downside to the Ssscat system is the price of these spray cans. They do not have nearly 200 sprays, as claimed, and I have found each one of the sensor heads is different in its sensitivity.
I am wondering if perhaps the heads leak some of the gas out over time, and that is why they seem to run out too soon. The cats test them occasionally, and when one runs out, they know it.
All in all, the system works as advertised. If only the price of the cans were less!!

Safe and effective, just costly Sep 14, 2007

Ssscat is safe and effective. My cats don't like to be sprayed so they stay away from the area of the spray. I have bought several Ssscats and have found that they do vary on how often they spray, and on the range of their sensors. However, even when they don't spray every time a cat comes near it, the cats don't want to be near the Ssscats. I find the Ssscat cost to be on the high side. I have found that buying the refills in bulk is a better deal.

Cats off!! Nov 02, 2010
By Anita Helton This is a great product, I have two 3 year old brothers and they get bored when I am not home. They like to get on my counter tops and stove when I am away and I hate cat hair on my cooking surfaces. I turn on the device and they don't jump on the counters, they don't like the noise or the light spray. This product is great, I 1st bought it two years ago and I love it. But when it runs out, they know and I have to try to keep it in stock. This is a really great product and Especially Pets delivers so fast that it gets there before you have to look for it. Most times I get it within a few days after I order.

THIS IS THE BEST DETERRENT FOR CATS! Apr 07, 2011
By Green Rose We have tried many types of products but this is the best out there. We have four cats PLUS two that are probably permanent foster cats that can't seem to be placed. That makes 6 that we feed and tend to daily. Unfortunately, after several years of no problems with proper use of the litter box, things got crazy and the two males started to spray in the house. Then, two females decided to start copying them. You would think we would give up but I started a campaign to solve the problem. I've tried large litter boxes, new litter, and scat mats (mild electric shock) with some success but when using this product the cats will NOT go to the area to spray (corners, etc). I now have two sprayers and plan to get about 4 more. Here are the advantages:
1. Doesn't stand out as an eyesore (spray can looks like a kitchen pan spray)
2. When empty, it continues to put out a "lighter" gust of spray (just air) that is still effective.
3. Extremely easy to move about the house (rotation is best).
4. Long lasting.
Disadvantages:
1. You are likely to be the one that sets it off 90% of the time! Cats are smart and will avoid it.
2. If you forget where you put it and set it off, you'll jump out of your skin!

SSSCAT works on MOST cats - not all Sep 30, 2010

I have three tuxedo cats - two stay away but the most obnoxious cat actually seems to LIKE the spray! He'll stand for several minutes at a time in front of the sprayer getting sprayed and, after several minutes of the game will leave, only to return for another few minutes of fun emptying the can. If there's a refill that sprays something that compels the cat to wash himself for 30 minutes in a corner, I'd like to know about it. If the motion detector fit, I'd put it on a can of Lysol.
