Love It! Apr 30, 2009
By T. Chavez I bought this collar for my dog when she was about 6 months old. It is extremely durable. There is a short built in leash that extends when you pull on it. It is not ideal for a normal walk with your dog, but very useful in many situations and does not get in the way because it retracts. Our dog is and Austrailian Shep/Collie mix and weighs about 70 lbs but strong. She has already broken the hook on two collars. She has not been able to break this one even when tied out. The collar is super kid friendly as well. Our children are able to walk for short periods without a regular leash. It has also been great when she's escaped outside when the door has been left open. Wanting to play and not obey, she doesn't always come when called, but will often buzz by me to play. I have been able to catch her by the leash attached to the collar and walk her into the house. Without the leash connection which extends when grabbed, it would be much more difficult. I am purchasing a new collar today because she needs the next size and the leash part has lost it's elasticity. But it lasted a long time and took a lot of abuse. I recommend it for every dog owner ESPECIALLY with children. SUPER STRONG and DURABLE.

Nice Collar with a handle to guide your dog Jun 27, 2008
By Teacher Mommy We order the bamboo quick control collar in extra large for our 140 pound St. Bernard Mix. The collar is thick and sturdy. The hand is a nice bonus feature if you need to grab your dog quickly although sometimes the collar rotates so that the hand part is down by the dog's neck and difficult to grab. Under that handle there is a little name address tag. The adjustable collar has sturdy belt like clasp but when the collar is set on the smallest setting the left over strap has no where to go and sort of sticks up a bit. So far it seems like a nice quality collar that will last quite a while.
Bamboo collar Control feature Jun 23, 2009
By Hinespickle The Bamboo collar has worked very nicely when I need to control my lab & keep her from lunging or jumping on an individual. I would change one thing about it though. It needs to have the ring for a leash more accessible & the loose flap should have another way to keep it from hanging down. My lab is a smaller girl so her neck was right at the edge between a medium collar & a large collar. We chose the large & tighten it to the smallest hole which leaves a length hanging down. Otherwise, it's a very nice looking collar & even my vet likes the control feature.
Favorite Collar Jun 19, 2009
By Rebecca A. Saunders I absolutely LOVE this collar. The built in leash is so useful for many situatios! I have a boxer and she's highly energectic. The built in leash comes in handy when keeping her at bay by an open door or when folks come in to keep her from jumping up on them. The last one I had lasted for approximately a year and after looking at new collars I couldn't imagine not buying this one again.
The only downsides I had with it is the fact that they "name tag" on the collar broke off within a month or so by the leash hand rubbing against it and thte elastic began fraying within 6-7 months until it finally broke.
But, all in all, Thanks for a great product!
Has held up so far! Feb 10, 2009
By keysgirl I bought this collar for my XL very strong 110 lb lab and it has held up under about 10 mos of use through Pizza deliveries and other visitors that make him lunge out of excitement. It is nice to not have to try to put on a leash while he is wiggling and excited to see someone at the door! I read reviews (elsewhere) about this breaking but he has stretched it too the limit with no problem so far, though it still makes me a little nervous when he does. He pulled my 280lb handyman along while he was holding it and it did not snap just to give you an idea of his pulling strength. Since it is elastic I would not expect it to last for years (nothing elastic that is indoor outdoor) will hold up all that long, but for the price and convenience it is a good deal! It is also easier on my back since I don't have to lean over to hold his collar. I ordered the XL for his 20" neck (was told to add an inch or 2 to neck measurements when sizing a collar) and this is too big (but the description is right- smallest grommet at 21.5 and largest at 25")and I can slide it on and off w/o undoing it so I am back to order the Large instead. Note that you can not poke extra holes to make it smaller because of the elastic. Other nice features include surprisingly bright reflective stitching and a little slot for name and phone number (though the plastic window is starting to tear a little).
