5My poochies ought to be bald, this stuff is GREAT!  Feb 12, 2007 By elviswoman
I have a Jack Russell Terrier and a Rat Terrier. Both have that short wiry hair that sticks to EVERYTHING, and they make little hair cobwebs throughout our home as well. Brushing wasn't working, frequent washing wasn't working. It was too expensive to buy this furminator treatment and have both dogs groomed too. I was at my wit's end.

I purchased the small blue Furminator tool with 1.7 inch blade along with the Furminator Shampoo and Furminator Solution. I washed both dogs with the shampoo for 5 minutes each as directed. The shampoo smells like Pina Coladas which made the Rat Terrier lick-this is bad as soap does upset dog tummies. But a TON of hair came off of both dogs after the shampoo, about a fist-full each. Next, I slathered them up with the solution, which smells like roses or some other floral scent and left that on for 5 minutes. Again, another fistfull of hair came out with the rinse! I allowed both dogs a couple of hours to dry all the way, then came back and used this tool. The Rat Terrier wouldn't go for it, he hates all brushes. But the Jack Russell Terrier loves being brushed and let me go over her whole body except the sensitive areas with the tool. And let me tell you, I got a wad of superfine undercoat fur the size of her head off of that dog. And the only hair she's leaving around the house is hair that was already all over the place prior to the Furminator treatment. I don't get hair flying off her when petting her anymore, and even the Rat Terrier that wouldn't let me use the tool on him is still not putting out a lot of shedding.

I would highly recommend the Furminator products. They are expensive and somewhat time consuming to use, but they work as advertised.

5Hairballs Beware!  Dec 11, 2005 By Emily
This is an amazing product! After shampooing my border collie mix, I applied this product and I was absolutely AMAZED at the amount of hair that she lost! This practically eliminated the hairballs on my hardwood floors! I definitely recommend if you have a dog that sheds a lot.

3Just another conditioner  Apr 08, 2007 By Nora D.
After investing in the FURminator De-Shedding Tool (which was the best $50 I've ever spent), I was expecting similar miracles from this "deShedding" Solution. However, after receiving it and reading the ingredients, it is apparent that this is just a very good conditioner. It contains many of the same ingredients you would find in a very good salon product for humans, but nothing special that will help with the shedding problem. So 3 stars for being a good conditioning product, but I held back 2 more stars, because it won't affect the amount of hair that comes off my dog.

3Helped with extreme matting  Oct 28, 2007 By Bruce Rogers
Used this product along with furminator comb. Together it took care of some matting problem with my cat. It is pricey and I am uncertain if it did a better job than less expensive brands...but it did work.

3A nice Extra?  Jun 23, 2010 By Mandy L
In my opinion the "solution", which is just a conditioner, is a nice extra step to make the dogs soft.

Below is the same review I put up for the Shampoo:

My dogs shed like crazy in the spring. I have a Jack Russell with a short coarse coat and an Australian Cattle Dog mix with lots of undercoat.

I had the FURminator Large Yellow deShedding Tool with 4-Inch Edge brush for dogs already and like the job it does getting hair off my dogs. Much better than any other brush I've tried.

I can't say that this shampoo or "solution" conditioner helped to remove any more hair compared to other products during or after the bath. I do not blow dry my dogs, perhaps the blow drying is an essential step.

I will say that the dogs were very soft and smelled very nice for several days. But they were still shedding at about the same rate as with just brushing.
