NOT for ferrets, cats, and short haired pets as it says... Dec 17, 2003
By Huntress Reviews It clearly states on the package that it is great for dogs, cats, ferrets, and other house pets. N-O-T-! If your cat or dog has very long AND thick fur, this will probably let you go ONE DAY longer BETWEEN baths, however, it does NOT replace pet shampoo and water by a long shot! Forget even trying ferrets. The brush is larger than a full grown ferret and the brissels are VERY wide. No, will not work on large animals either, such as horses, so do not even think it. It takes a 9V battery and can hardly be heard by human ears. The pets sure can hear it though. It took quite a bit of coaxing to get my cats to even get near the thing. It does not suck out odors, animal dander, fur, etc...though it claims to. Instead, it emits a light, constant pressure of air that (IF THE ANIMAL HAS LONG AND THICK FUR) will get under the hot mound of fur. This only lets the breeze in and puffs the fur up to make it LOOK cleaner and fuller. However, the very next time you pet the fur or it licks itself, even that illusion is gone. The breeze is not cool, so it will not feel great to the animal either. When I touch the brissels to feel the air, it takes a little while because the breeze is luke warm and faint. If the pet DOES have think, long fur though it will love the large wide brissels as you comb it. But any cheap brush will do this. PASS. Reviewed by Detra Fitch.
Effective hair brush and fur cleaner Jan 19, 2009
By Hollywood Hack Ever try to give your dog a bath? It wiggles out in the yard and gets dirt and ticks all over the fur--stickers,too--before you can ever dry it off. Mom and dad used the bathtub to clean our dog--mine! To this day a pile of grease and dirt is so stained on the porcelain we can never clean it off. Heck, I only take showers in it, it's SO dirty. This waterless pet cleaning brush worked fine. It's easy to use and it lifts all the tick and lice eggs off the pet without hurting or infecting it with wetness. It also keeps the fur from matting up and will untangle a lot of matting in the hair. Our dog is gone now after almost twenty years. She lived that long because we used this brush instead of a bath where dogs pick up colds, fevers, and more ticks afterwards. Experts say you should almost never give your pet a bath--it dissolves natural protective oils in the fur. Of course, injury or exposure to a lot of dirt are exceptions.
